BMCCF Members,
The big day of our 2004 Car Show has come and gone, and this had to be the best show since the club’s inception. The weather was picture perfect, and we had seventy-two (72) top quality cars on the field. We had cars come from Asheville, Charlotte, South Carolina, and even Tidewater, Virginia. The long distance entrants said they would be back next year with more of their friends.
Our show is rapidly gaining popularity thanks to our show committee which spent countless hours preparing for this year’s show. I want to personally thank the committee for putting together our best show ever, and a very special thank you to Trudy Williamson for being the driving force behind the committee. She covered every detail of the preparations. This committee has set the standard for all future shows. We are fast becoming one of the most popular shows on the East coast.
Congratulations to Dale Masters for winning Best of Show for his 1955 Morgan!
Our trip to the Boy’s & Girl’s Homes of NC at Lake Waccamaw on Saturday, October 30, was a big hit with the kids and with all the members who attended. We had 17 cars to give the kids rides around Lake Waccamaw.
Everyone was served pizza and soda compliments of the BMCCF, and desserts were provided by the BMCCF wives.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our club to support a worthwhile cause. The Boys & Girls Homes depends heavily on community support and private contributions since the government is cutting entitlements to this organization.
Thanks to Tom Soluri who organized this event and brought to light the needs of this home for kids who have been abused, abandoned, or orphaned. This is a chance to have our Spring show at the home to help bring attention to their needs.
Tom Lamont, Director of Planned Giving and Major Gifts, would like to attend one of our meetings to talk about the home. We will invite him as soon as we can find a quiet meeting place.
Don’t forget December 11th and 12th – We are going to Beaufort for some sightseeing and good food. Call or E-mail me with your RSVP so Meritte can make reservations for our overnight stay.
