BMCCF Members,
The first thing I want to say is a
big “Thank You” to all the members who displayed their cars at the Land
Rover Dealership. This was the best turnout for an activity in a long
time. I think we made a very good impression at Land Rover, and they made a
good impression on us with the fantastic lunch and the great door prizes
they gave away. Hopefully this will turn out to be a yearly event since we
don’t have the Meals on Wheels show anymore. The year is half over and we’ve had an outing every month, and it will continue throughout the summer. We have some great places planned, so keep up with the web site so you don’t miss any of the trips. Almost all these outings are close to home, so you don’t have to worry about your LBC’s reliability.
Paul Buckner is planning a get
together with the Raleigh MG club. We will meet them for great food at
Christopher’s in Clinton, which is halfway for both clubs. Plan on
attending this one. A lot of the Raleigh people will be attending our
November show. Raleigh has their show in October, so we’ll have to get some
cars lined up for this one. There are lots of places to go, so let's get our cars out and enjoy them.

June 12, 2004 Despite a pretty good downpour during the preceding night, Saturday June 12
turned out to be an ideal day to stand around outside and gawk at LBCs for
five or six hours. The temperature was balmy and the sky stayed slightly
overcast keeping the incessant sun from being a nuisance to both machines and
bodies.
As you can see from the photograph, we had an excellent turnout of cars and club members. Even though there were two alternative major events going on that weekend, VIR Vintage racing and the British Car Day South event at Salisbury, we managed to get about 20 cars to show up. We even had a couple of Royal British Marines and their Rover military vehicle make the trip from Camp LeJuene to join us.
The folks at Cape Fear Land Rover went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including some real nice door prizes and a bang up Luau style lunch. Roasted pork and Polynesian chicken and all the tasty side dishes. yum! At the end of the afternoon the dealer staff chose Carl Antos’ TD as their favorite car of the day, over a couple of vintage rovers if you can believe that, and presented him with a nice quality utility bag. Carl was pleased as punch. - D. C. Masters

Many thanks to Larry Snider for working with Cape Fear Land Rover in getting the event set up. It wouldn’t have happened without him. Also, a heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cape Fear Land Rover for allowing us to take over their parking lot and treating us so well Everyone agreed that it was a special day and expressed a desire to do it again next year. - D.C.
