President's Message |

BMCCF Members, This message is going to be full of all those things that I would like to accomplish this year; sort of like a campaign platform, after the fact. But the first thing I want to do is sincerely thank Wayne Bennett and the board for the wonderful job they did last year. We had a wonderful schedule of events, including many new activities, exciting meeting places and new members.
I hope to build on that tradition this year with even more driving events, including day outings, weekenders and maybe even a nighttime driving event. Our driving events should be more fun for all! I want people to get out and drive their cars, so that they learn to be more confident in it’s reliable performance. After all, not all stories you hear about the "Prince of Darkness", and "you mean that is your only car" are true. I find that the more your car is driven, the more reliable it becomes.
I want to get more involvement from new members and those who have been less active; not only attending events, but also help in running the club and events. Our new members are our future strengths and source of fresh ideas. We need to attract new members and woo back those old ones we have lost. There are hundreds of British cars in our area. Their owners should all be members, if for no other reason than as a source of contacts of repairs for their cars, because they don’t drive them enough. To this end we need to be more visible to the public. Enter more parades and other civic events. Get BMCCF better known. Have more events with other car clubs.
Our monthly meeting attendance, in the past, has been outstanding. We need to keep that up. We have a good time, get our business conducted, socialize and enjoy a good meal. Maybe we should continue the practice of meeting in several different locations.
These are issues that I’m sure Wayne and previous Presidents have dealt with, so we will press on to make them a reality. Come out and enjoy YOUR club.

Coming Events January 15 2004 Potluck covered dish dinner with entrees (turkey, ham, and prime rib) supplied by BMCCF. We are asking the BMCCF club attendees to bring a "dish to pass" or salad or dessert. So we don't wind up with 14 green bean casseroles or lots of brownies, please e-mail John Foster at (fosterhouse@earthlink.net) or telephone John 910-270-7050 with the item you would like to bring and we will keep a list. House Bill 1183 passed in July of this year which eliminates the need for safety
inspection on cars 35 years and older. The new law will be in effect January 1,
2005! Is this not great? This portion of the bill was tacked onto which
essentially concerned the number of tags a dealership is permitted to obtain
each year. |
